Well, it's been a while since I've had a chance to add anything. Since we don't have internet at home, it's hard to keep things updated. Plus, it's been quite busy over the last six weeks.
On March 13th, we welcomed our newest addition. Mitchell Hayden was born at 8:11 pm, weighing 8 pounds 9 ounces. It was a quick birth...we left the house shortly before 7 pm and went straight to the delivery room at the hospital. Once the midwife broke my water...it only took a few pushes and he was here.
Mitchell's brothers were so excited. Connor wanted to come to the hospital immediately...we had them wait until the next day. Connor brought his "snuggy cuddlies" with him as promised. He is so proud of his new brother. Jackson is so loving. He likes to sit with me as I hold Mitchell...he'll caress his arm or give him kisses. He's very concerned when Mitchell cries...and call out to me to "do something..Mitchell is crying!!!". As for Sawyer, well, he's not quite sure what he thinks of this new little person in our house. He likes to poke at him...we think he's trying to figure our if Mitchell is real or a toy. He's real....and he's here to stay.
The boys are in great (read: very active) stages right now. Connor is working on learning the alphabet...he loves to be quizzed, but doesn't not like getting the answer wrong. One of his favorite things to do is to "read" to his brother. I think he's memorized about a dozen books by now.
Jackson is really coming out of his shell. He still loves his trains...and I love listening in as he creates adventures for Thomas, Percy and his friends. He talking all the time and has such a pleasant, loving character. I was almost in tears two weeks ago when for the first time, he asked me for kisses as I was dropping him off. Then, a few days later, he told me he loved me. Oh, what joy! I couldn't ask for better words to be spoken.
Jackson and Connor are starting to play really well together. They can spend hours playing trains or cars together. I captured a great moment of video as the two played trains and sang "Jesus Loves Me". So cute. As soon as Connor saw the camera he put on a concert for us....even picking up his guitar for a chorus of "hallelu"
Connor and Jackson also started sharing a room. So far, its been mixed reviews. Though they do love their new sheets...spiderman and thomas.
Sawyer is...well, let's just say, he's non-stop. Craig has nicknamed him the little bull. He weighs 29 pounds and uses every ounce to barrel his way to where he wants to go. He could be a bully...if he wasn't so sweet. Just one look with those big brown eyes...and sparkling smile...and you can't help but love him. Though, I swear, I say the word "no" more than I ever thought possible. No, don't climb on the table, no don't throw that toy, no don't poke your brothers eyes out...UGH! No, don't send your mommy to the funny farm.
Mitchell is a sweetie. He weighs 11 pounds now. He's still eating every few hours and giving me little sleep, but he's worth it. He has blonde, blonde hair and blue eyes. What a dear. He is very content and only seems to fuss when he has gas or a dirty diaper. Which, by the way, was pretty often for the first few weeks of his life. He'd eat and 5 minutes later, he'd poop. Just a teeny-tiny one, but a poop. Last week he had his first big poop...a real blow out. I never thought I'd be happy to see poop going down a child's leg, but at least I'm not changing 57 diapers a day now as he's getting more regular.
So far, he won't take a pacifier and hasn't found his thumb. (Despite Craig's best efforts to give him something to stick in his mouth!) We'll see if that changes.
Anyway, Life is a joy...but its speeding by way to fast. I want to try to savor and capture every moment.
Just one question, am I a bad mom for eating all the chocolate out of my kids' easter baskets?
PS - I'll add pictures when I can.
